Our Work
As a faith-based organization, it is the mission of Midwest Food Bank to alleviate hunger and poverty by gathering and distributing food donations to not-for-profits and disaster sites without cost to the recipients. Hunger and food insecurity are significant problems facing our country and communities. We are a charity with a desire to demonstrate God's love by providing help to those in need. Our values give us a roadmap to "Sharing the Blessings."
"Our hope is to bridge the gap between prosperity and poverty in our community." - David Kieser, Founder & President
Ways to Volunteer
The Peoria Division serves over 350 nonprofit organizations locally and throughout the western half of Illinois. Much of our product arrives at the warehouse needing to be organized or broken down into more manageable packaging. Volunteers help in every aspect: setting up product, restocking items, loading the agencies vehicle. Numerous volunteers also participate throughout the week to make it all possible.
