On February 17, 2023 we hold a fundraiser called, "Gimme Shelter", where participants spend the night either outside in a cardboard box or in their vehicles to simulate a winter night in Central Illinois for those who are experiencing homelessness. This is a 12 hour event from 6 PM on Friday to 6 AM Saturday. Gimme Shelter takes place at the RiverPlex and there is police security there for the 12 hours of our fundraiser. Now that you have a snapshot of our event, we need volunteers to help at this fundraiser, in order for it to be successful. We already have designated help to set up the boxes outside of the building and tear down the boxes, but we need help inside of the building.
We need volunteers to help us transport supplies from Phoenix CDS building to our event location at the RiverPlex, assemble goodie bags, set up the event inside the building, help with participant registration, organize the food and snack area and tear down & clean up inside the building at the end of our event on Saturday. Your willingness to help us and volunteer, has an impact on participants and yourselves as a whole.
